Help

With this latest version, we have moved in a completely new direction: new back-end, new front-end, new servers and new software. Everything has been rebuilt from the ground up, including the addition of a Linux®-based cluster server that allows us to spread the load over (at this time) three different machines. We hope you have found the new changes as friendly and usable as we have. But, if not we've put this guide together to help make using this client as easy as possible. We'll break down each area of the site and let you know what to expect from each. If you have any specific questions that aren't covered in our Frequently Asked Questions section, please send them to <admin@3wmail.com>.

How do I send attachments? (top)
Provided you are using a current version of either Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, you should see a "Browse" button next to Attachment on the Compose message screen. (If you do not see the "Browse" button, you will need to upgrade to a newer version of your browser before you can send attachments). Click the "Browse" button and locate the on your local machine you want to send. The full path to that local file should appear in the Attachment box. You can also manually type the full path to the local file in this box as well. Important note: the full path and filename cannot contain any spaces (example: "c:\My Documents\picture1.jpg" would NOT work).

Is there any way to see the messages that I have sent? (top)
No. This is a POP3 client that works directly with your mail server. Sent messages are not stored on your server, they are stored in a local folder on whatever email client you are used to using. It does not have the server capacity or disk space to store sent messages for every user of this system.

Today I signed in and all of my email was gone. Do you periodically delete my email? (top)
No. Again, this is a POP3 client that works directly with your mail server. It only takes action if you do. More than likely, you are also using a local email client like Outlook, Outlook Express or Eudora (shame on you, btw, this client is the only email client you need) and this client has been set to download messages from the server. This will remove the messages in your mailbox, thus making it impossible for this client to see them.

How do I forward messages with attachments? (top)
You can't. YET! We are still working on adding this feature very soon. Forwarding and sending attachments are just different enough that we could not use the same routine for both methods. Look for this feature VERY soon.

How do I delete my saved email address and password? (top)
That would depend on how the password is being saved. This client uses cookies to save your email address and/or password, if you tell it to do so (see Login Help for more information). You can have it remove those cookies by selecting the last bullet on the page (Do not save anything) AND logging in successfully. The cookies will ONLY be deleted if you successfully log in to this client.
The other method for saving this information is based on the browser you are using. The latest versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator both offer a "feature" to remember form field information for the next time you come back to a particular page. While this is a convenient feature - it also poses a serious security hole that anyone using your computer can exploit. Our advice would be to look in the help section for whichever browser you are using and disable this feature. Clearing your cache and history may temporarily cause the browser to "forget" this information; however, unless you disable this feature, your browser will remember it the next time you submit the form.

How do I set up multiple accounts? (top)
You can't. YET! This client is simply a POP3 client, similar to Outlook Express or Eudora. You need to have an existing email address on a mail server to use this system.

Why isn't there an option for adding a sender to my address book? (top)
Actually, there is - we just didn't make it that obvious. When you are reading an email message, you can click on the Sender's name and a window will pop-up asking you if you want to add that address to your address book. If you do not have an address book yet, one will be created for you before the address is added.

How can I delete all messages in my mailbox at one time (top)
Unfortunately, you can't. YET! While many feel this is a necessary feature, we feel it would be too easy to accidentally use it and wipe out your entire mailbox. Once a message is deleted using this client, it is gone forever. There is no "Deleted Items" folder to recover them from, nor is there a undo feature. If more people want this function we will add it, but at this time it has been disabled.

Is there anyway to tell which messages have been read, which ones I have replied to, etc? (top)
No. Each mail server handles this information differently and some don't even bother with it at all. A local email client (like Outlook Express or Eudora) can easily do this because the overhead is covered by the local machine. Storing the status of every message for every user would cause too much of a load on our servers.

I keep getting a "Your session has expired. Please Log in again." error whenever I try to read a message. (top)
The permission error that you are getting is not related to your mail account. It strictly deals with the way the computer you are using handles cookies. In order to protect your account from unauthorized usage, we had to use a security method that makes extensive use of cookies. If the computer you are using has cookies disabled (turned off), then you will not be able to use the site. Also, if for some reason your cookie is corrupt, you can safely delete it and log in again. Close your browsers, find your cookies directory, and delete the cookie.
The easiest way to fix this problem is to clear your cache and then locate the 3wmail cookie file(s) on your computer and delete it as well. Look in your COOKIES folder (under windows or winnt) and find a text file with 3wmail in the name - delete it. You will probably also have to look in your Temporary Internet Files folder (under windows or winnt and/or "program files\internet explorer") for the same file and delete it. Finally, if your browser doesn't support cookies, you have them turned off or you refuse the cookie, you will also get that error message.
